Greg Gard has landed his third transfer portal addition, and it finally feels like a player who may be sliding into John Blackwell's role. Eian Elmer has committed to being a Badger for his senior season after exploding for Miami (OH). The height, size, and attributes may even make Elmer an even better fit for Gard than Blackwell.
Jon Rothstein, the most famous of all college basketball analysts, said that Gard found an "under-the-radar addition" and that Elmer is a "big-time shooter."

An under-the-radar addition for Greg Gard and the Badgers.
Big time shooter.
Eian Elmer has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers and may be replacing John Blackwell

Elmer is 6'6 and 215 pounds. He is long and knows how to use his length on the defensive side of the ball. But what will pop off the paper for Wisconsin fans is his scoring ability. Elmer can absolutely score the rock, and yet doesn't have to be the star in every game. His game log reads like a John Blackwell script.
Elmer averaged 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game and was a huge part of the undefeated season for the Miami Redhawks. He had a dozen double-digit games in scoring with point outputs of 20, 25, 30, 21, 32, and even 23 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against SMU.
He was held in check by the Tennessee Volunteers in that second-round matchup, but he was also pressing to help his team keep going. He couldn't find the rhythm he had in the first round game.
It would not shock anyone at all to learn that this was the guy to replace John Blackwell in the lineup. Elmer's a dynamic scorer that compliments those around him. Doesn't need to score but can take over games when called upon. Elmer also plays excellent defense and will fit nicely into Greg Gard's lineup in his final season in college.
This is now Gard's third addition from the transfer portal and fourth total. He started the offseason by signing international Australian point guard Owen Foxwell. Gard followed it up with Trey Autry to be a "3 and D" off the bench. Today, there were two additions in the 6'10 paint-stuffing center Victory Onuetu, followed by Eian Elmer. There are still a few spots to go, but the starting lineup is starting to shape up.
