The transfer portal is already very active, and it hasn't even opened yet. Trech Kekahuna is now the latest player to declare his intent to transfer when it opens on January 2nd. It's not stunning to see Kekahuna decide it's time to transfer as he almost did last season, but it does sting a bit as he was only of the only silver linings in a terrible offensive year.

Kekahuna was off to a new university last offseason. He was in the portal, figuring out his next home, when he spoke with Wisconsin offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes. Grimes was able to convince him to stay, to take his name out of the portal, and give Wisconsin another shot. He did just that, but that one shot has now worn out, and Kekahuna will do what he tried to do last season and go portalling.

Could he come back? Could Grimes convince him to stay again? Maybe, but it seems unlikely at this point, as whatever talked him into staying last year probably won't work again, which is too bad, as he was one of the best parts of the Badgers' offense.

He has 55 receptions and 614 yards with touchdowns in his three years at Wisconsin. He only played a couple of games as a true freshman, so he could redshirt. Then, in the last two years, he had almost the exact same receptions, with 2024 at 25 receptions and 339 yards with two touchdowns, and 2025 with 26 receptions and 211 yards and no touchdowns.

He was used way more as a runner in specially designed plays. He had 14 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown on the ground this season, but it's still not going to excite him to run it back for another year when he's watching other offenses use players like him to a more elevated status.
