Luke Fickell has been pushing for 4-star legacy QB recruit Jack Sorgi. The problem for Fickell and Wisconsin is that Sorgi has been committed to the Louisville Cardinals. Fickell and staff have been trying to get him to flip, but it hasn't happened yet. Now that may be changing shortly. Sorgi has just announced on his social media that he is decommitting from Louisville.
The rumors immediately started swirling that Wisconsin just took over the driver seat for Sorgi and getting a new Sorgi under center for the Badgers.

Jim Sorgi's son may now be bound to wear Wisconsin red just like his dad

Jim Sorgi is best known for his time in the NFL backing up Hall of Famer Peyton Manning; however, he was a Wisconsin standout before that. Sorgi was part of the Badgers from 2000 to 2003 before being drafted in the 6th round by the Indianapolis Colts. Fun NFL nugget about Sorgi is that he was the backup for both Manning brothers at one point in his career. His time with Eli was cut immediately short due to injury.
The Sorgi family settled in Indiana, and thus, the legacy recruit for Jack is mostly due to his dad playing at Wisconsin and the connection there. Jack isn't an in-state recruit but feels like it. If he does indeed flip to Wisconsin, he would be the first out-of-state commitment for Luke Fickell in the 2027 class.
It would be a class built to encourage Wisconsin fans. Four in-state commitments and one legacy recruit to start the class. That would be electric and get fans fired up for how a wall is being built around Wisconsin and keeping the Wisconsin players both by geography and history in Madison.
This would be a big grab, it's yet to be confirmed, but there may be some writing on the wall.
