Luke Fickell's tenure at Wisconsin can be defined by two things so far: losing and injuries. Today, he announced three players on the roster had surgery during the bye week and will now be out for the rest of the season. Another big blow for the Badgers as starting running back Dilin Jones, starting center Jake Renfro, and safety Matthew Traynor are all going to be shut down for the season as they recover from their surgeries.

Wisconsin continues to experience a ton of injuries at key positions

The rumor that Wisconsin was losing Dilin Jones for the season surfaced during the Fox Sports broadcast last week, when Tim Brando said as much. Quickly, beat reporters and other sleuths were trying to find out if that was true. Eventually, a Wisconsin spokesperson said it wasn't, which quieted down the murmurs.

Yet it turned out to be true. Maybe at the time, they were still deciding on surgery or not, but it's not a good look.

Jake Renfro has been injured the entire season, yet at times gritted through the pain and played anyway. It was injured during fall camp and never quite got back to full health. As a graduate player, unless he can get a medical redshirt, his career may be done. A big bummer for the long-time Badger and heart and soul of the offensive line.

Matthew Traynor was also announced as a player out for the season and had surgery last week during the bye week. It's another player on the pile of various injuries that have plagued the Badgers this season.

Not to mention the starting quarterback, Billy Edwards Jr., who hasn't played in a full game all year after going down in the opening contest, it's a pattern that continues to repeat for Luke Fickell, and at this point, it feels like there may be something in the strength and conditioning, as it's not normal always to have major injuries to all the key positions every season.
