Last month, Wisconsin lost their general manager, Max Stienecker, to the USC Trojans, and ever since, fans have wondered who the replacement would be. There have been some unrealistic speculations like JJ Watt and some more normal ones like Carter Auman, who Wisconsin tried to hire away from Notre Dame previously. However, the ultimate person to be hired to the position was a name that many didn't see coming and yet is exciting nonetheless.

Wisconsin has hired Marcus Sedberry as the new General Manager
Sedberry is an up-and-coming name within the UW program and yet is not someone anyone expected to be the next GM. That being said, he's very well-qualified and could be a great example of head coach Luke Fickell having someone waiting in the wings.
Sedberry is currently listed as the Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer for Wisconsin Athletics. He has served in the role for the last two seasons after coming to the Badgers from Baylor. Inside that role, he does a lot of the operations side of the athletics department. It will be interesting to see how his transition over exclusively to football works. He came to Wisconsin highly decorated out of Baylor. Here's what the Wisconsin Athletics website says about him:
"Sedberry came to Wisconsin after spending almost five years at Baylor University as a senior associate athletics director. He joined Baylor's staff in May of 2017 and played a critical role in reshaping the strategic direction of the athletics department. During his tenure at Baylor, Sedberry was the sport administrator for football and men's and women's track and field. He also provided oversight of multiple administrative units, led student services units to record-breaking success, led campus integration efforts, and assisted in unprecedented university fundraising efforts and sport-specific capital projects."Wisconsin Athletics
It's an important hire for Fickell as he has basically a couple of years to turn things around, and Sedberry is a key piece in that future success if it is to come.
