Wisconsin added one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the portal a few days ago in Colton Joseph out of Old Dominion. The Badgers also signed young quarterback Carter Smith to a new deal. There's also Danny O'Neil, still recovering from his injury, with plans to be ready for the season. Yet, Luke Fickell isn't messing around; he wants one more to add to the mix.
The Badgers are set to host two different quarterbacks, Ty Dieffenbach from Cal Poly and Deuce Adams from Louisville. These QBs will be in Madison over the coming days in an effort to make sure there's plenty of depth at a position that has continued to plague Luke Fickell since arriving in Wisconsin.

Last year, Fickell added veteran Hunter Simmons to fill the extra quarterback role. He was looking for someone who wasn't trying to prove anything but was happy for a spot and could fill in if needed. Sadly, it was needed. This year, it seems his plan is a little different; he wants younger guys to fight for that second-string or maybe even third-string spot.
Dieffenbach originally went to Pitt but transferred to Cal Poly so he could play as a redshirt freshman. He did just that, throwing for 1,305 yards and nine touchdowns. He's only going to be a sophomore this next season, and maybe is looking for a Power-4 program to develop at?
The same could be said for Adams, who was also a redshirt freshman at Louisville this last season. He will similarly have three seasons of eligibility left. He didn't get much playing time, unlike Dieffenbach, but did appear in seven games and threw for 112 yards.
It's an interesting strategy for Fickell to find a few young guys to invest in. The Badgers won't take both of them and may not end up with either of them, but you can clearly see that Fickell is thinking of stacking his quarterback room with younger players with a lot to prove.
