The chants for "FIRE FICKELL" were raining down on the Wisconsin football team as they laid a huge turd on Camp Randall field against Maryland today. It was from top to bottom a pretty classic example of a poorly coached team. Head coach Luke Fickell deserves to hear his name being chanted in a negative light after that display. However, he may not be the first one who needs to be fired; there's another option and a more affordable one: Wisconsin Athletic Director Chris McIntosh.
Luke Fickell needs to go; this team hasn't looked good under his leadership since he arrived. It's embarrassing at this point. But his buyout is insane, and thus, maybe the first step is to get rid of the guy who gave him that huge contract. It's time to take out the guy that's got skeletons in his closet with the women's basketball program and blood on his hands with this crap of a football team.
Fans have turned on both Luke Fickell and Chris McIntosh.
I don’t have anger to Fickell. He took a high paying job that was offered. Chris McIntosh….f-him.

I don’t trust Chris McIntosh to hire the next coach of the Wisconsin football program.

In fairness, McIntosh is the one who needs to be fired. His "leadership" got us to this point.

Chris McIntosh is a much more affordable hire and the next AD can fix this mess
Not everything is publicly available about McIntosh's contract, but he probably makes around $1 1million a year with 5 years left on his contract. At worst, he could be due only a couple of million. Which, sure, is a lot, but nothing compared to the $25 million+ that it would take to get rid of Fickell.
There's a chance the new athletic director would even help fundraise money to fix the mess that McIntosh created with Luke Fickell's contract.
It just doesn't seem likely that Fickell will get fired because of the high buyout. It would be the biggest buyout in Big Ten history if Wisconsin pulls the trigger. The kicker is, McIntosh won't pull the trigger; the two are tied together, and so it's time to start at the top.
