Luke Fickell continues to add to Wisconsin's roster via the transfer portal. Today, he picked up arguably one of Minnesota's most talented wide receivers, Malachi Coleman. He wasn't their best in terms of production, but with two seasons left to play, he still shows some of what made him a 4-star recruit and one of the best players out of the state of Nebraska.

Coleman originally committed to Nebraska and played as a true freshman, catching eight passes for 139 yards and one touchdown. He then transferred to Minnesota, where he has been the last two seasons. He redshirted as a sophomore and then, in 2025, played his redshirt sophomore year but was underutilized, with only five catches for 83 yards. However, there are flashes of that elite talent.

Coleman is a huge body, but also a big-play threat receiver. He's 6'5 and 200 pounds. He has the ability to take the top off the defense, having one catch for the Golden Gophers that went for 53 yards. However, Minnesota's head coach, PJ Fleck, didn't quite know how to utilize him, and Coleman decided it was time to move on.

Now, Luke Fickell and his WR coach Jordan Reid get a chance to see if they can get Coleman to be who many pundits thought he would be out of high school. A household name with star power on the field.

Out of high school, 24/7 Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks said this about him: "Unique, high-ceiling football player with outstanding athleticism and physical tools. May need some time to physically and technically develop, but potential is through the roof. Projects as a high-major recruit with the long-term upside to get drafted, possibly in the top half."

It's another high-ceiling add for Fickell, and this time with some low risk, as the wide receiver room will have plenty of both opportunity and talent. This is just one more player who can compete to win the chance to be one of the featured Wisconsin wide receivers this season.
