The Badgers are on fire. Luke Fickell is putting together the best recruiting class that Wisconsin has seen in years, and he's doing it after a 4-8 season. He and his team continue to stack up talent for next season in the 2027 recruiting class. It's wild, and the latest recruit is 3-star wide receiver and No. 1 player in the state of Montana, Steele Harris.

Harris has long been rumored to be leaning towards Wisconsin, but waited until his official visit to pull the trigger. Harris is a star player in his home state, but he's also a top-50 athlete in the entire nation. The talent in this class is insane, and Harris is a player who could play a variety of positions in college, but most likely projects as a wide receiver.

Wide receiver is where Harris shows a ton of promise and has the ability to take the top off a defense and use his natural athleticism to make tacklers miss. In 2025, he was able to put together quite the season for Great Falls, piling up 42 catches for 781 yards and seven touchdowns. Quick math says that's 18.6 yards per catch, which is impressive even in high school.

Harris did this while also playing some snaps at quarterback and defensive back. There's a lot of athleticism to his game, and he could project on the defensive side of the ball in college, too. However, with Ari Confesor having his primary recruiter for Wisconsin, it's obvious the Badgers see him as a wide receiver.

Harris joins an overly impressive recruiting class for Luke Fickell. According to 24/7 Sports, it is now ranked No. 13. It jumped from No. 18 yesterday after both Harris and 3-star edge rusher Darin Graham also committed today. Those two jumping into the class propelled it to impressive heights.

For Fickell, the secret sauce (besides the obvious fact that Wisconsin is clearly investing more money) is the in-state recruiting and the official visits. Wisconsin has watched five of six uncommitted players become Badgers from the first weekend, and now two of the five from this last weekend. Those percentages are insane.

Wisconsin even got 4-star safety Mekhi Williams to flip from Florida State to Wisconsin. Williams has now become the top recruit in Wisconsin's loaded class. There's also hope that Fickell can convince Brody Pfannenstiel to do the same, flipping from Texas Tech to Wisconsin.

Harris is part of a huge recruiting class and a massive couple of weeks for the Badgers. Landing the top player in Montana is impressive, and now Fickell has recruits from nine different states: Wisconsin, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Connecticut, Arizona, California, Delaware, and now Montana.
