Luke Fickell is well on his way to having one of the best football recruiting classes in a very long time at Wisconsin. It's certainly going to be his best since he's been the head coach for the Badgers, even if he stops now. He isn't going to stop now, and there's another player who is close to pulling the trigger and choosing the Badgers. In fact, there is even anticipation that Steele Harris could commit this weekend on his official visit.
Harris is the No. 1 player in all of Montana and a top-50 athlete in the nation. He's essentially narrowed his list to two schools based on his visits. He will be in Madison this weekend and off to check out Cal Bears next weekend (June 12). Fickell is hoping to make sure this second visit never happens.
3-star Steele Harris in the No. 1 recruit in the state of Montana and has 2 crystal balls to Wisconsin

Fickell isn't the only one thinking that Harris never makes it to Cal. Two Wisconsin insiders have also submitted a Crystal Ball for Luke Fickell to land Steele Harris. Nick Osen and Jon McNamara both submitted a prediction for Harris last week. Long before Harris even showed up on campus. Now that Harris is on campus, he may actually leave as a Badger and no longer a potential Badger.
Harris is a star athlete in Great Falls, Montana. He played quarterback, defensive back, and wide receiver. Ari Confesor is the main recruiter for Wisconsin, and that indicates that the Badgers view him as a wide receiver. Wisconsin isn't the only program to see him that way; Hines Ward is his primary recruiter for Arizona State, trying to close in on him. Yes, that Hines Ward, the Pittsburgh Steelers great and now wide receivers coach at ASU.
If Harris pulls the trigger this weekend and adds to the already impressive recruiting class, Fickell will see his Badgers back inside the top-15 recruiting rankings for 2027. When 4-star Mekhi Williams committed earlier this week, it propelled Wisconsin to No. 15. However, since then, other programs have also picked up new recruits, and the Badgers are now ranked No. 16 overall by 24/7 Sports.
He will also be the second wide receiver to commit to the Badgers in the last week, joining 4-star Jai Jones from Arizona, but also the second overall in the 2027 class.
This would be a huge and amazing pickup for the Badgers and showcase that Luke Fickell isn't messing around with recruiting. It also shows that there is more money to use for Fickell in recruiting. He hasn't even been close to a top-15 class this late in the cycle before. His 2026 class finished No. 65 in the nation. What a big move for the Badgers.
Fickell would tell anyone reading right now, Harris isn't the only goal for this weekend; he has five others coming in, and while they won't all commit to the Badgers, there's a chance he grabs a few more. Stay tuned.
