Jaquan Johnson is an in-state guard who was unheralded out of high school but is now going to be a top guard out of the transfer portal. 24/7 Sports had him as an unranked recruit in high school, but now has him ranked as a 4-star transfer. Why? He's a scorer for Bradley who averaged 16.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

Bradley is a respectable D-1 program that played 11 quad-1 or 2 games this season. So, his output is nothing to scoff at, and it's something that causes you to at least take a pause. There are plenty of transfers who jump into the portal with high-scoring output but can't convert to a high major. Johnson may truly be able to make the jump in his junior season.

Johnson had two 30+ point games this season and 12 20+ games while shooting 38.3% from behind the arc, but most of his points came from his ability to get to the basket. Though he did make 54 threes this last season for Bradley.

Wisconsin is in need of a point guard going into next season, and Johnson is an in-state prospect. There may be at least a cursory feel-out and see if there's a fit in the Gard system. The easy answer would be to take a flyer and have him be a backup, but that's not going to be enough for Johnson.

He's going into his junior year, and his sophomore year, he proved he can play at a high level and score in bunches. He will be looking for an opportunity that would give him guaranteed playing time. Yet, you never know. It's worth the check-in for the in-state prospect.
