In the blink of an eye, the Wisconsin Badgers were able to add two new quarterbacks for the 2025 campaign. First, San Diego State transfer Danny O'Neil put the pen to paper, which was an exciting addition for head coach Luke Fickell and his staff.

Not long after that, though, Maryland transfer Billy Edwards Jr. also made things official. Edwards has a bit more experience than O'Neil and plenty of people have him as the frontrunner to win the QB1 spot in Madison. Will he get the job done?

In an interview with 247Sports' Nick Osen, Edwards delivered a fiery message to those who believe in him. Straight up, Edwards knows this is his last chance to make a serious impact at the college level and he wants to make sure he leaves a lasting legacy with the Badgers:

Billy Edwards Jr. is hoping to win the Wisconsin Badgers starting QB job

Those are the words of a youngster who knows he has a great opportunity to make an impact for UW in 2025. This past season for Maryland, Edwards tossed for 2,881 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His three-touchdown game vs. Indiana was quite impressive.

He was a bit up and down throughout the season, but there's no question that he has a rocket for an arm. He'll be in a battle with O'Neil for the starting job, but either way, the QBs room is going to be in much better shape than it was this past season.

In 2024, Tyler Van Dyke opened the year as the starter, but a torn ACL ended his campaign early on in the fall. Braedyn Locke took over as the starter, but he struggled to get the offense into a rhythm. Both players are in the transfer portal looking for a new home.

There will be a new leader on offense for the Badgers in '25 and it's up in the air who will lead the offense out onto the field come Week 1. However, Edwards is ready to do whatever is needed to impress Fickell both in spring ball and once fall camp gets here.
