The Washington Commanders have released their starting center, Tyler Biadasz, a former Wisconsin standout. He's now one of the best centers available, and the chance for him to return to his home state, where he played both high school football and college for the Badgers. Could the Green Bay Packers make a move on Biadasz? The team needs a center, and a local hero is now available.

This has every appearance of a business decision by the Commanders and not a talent question. The Commanders have been freeing up cap space this offseason, and this move could save them nearly $10 million. According to ESPN, "The Commanders will save $8.3 million this season if they designate his release to a post-June 1 cut and the savings would not go into effect until that time."

The problem now for Washington is that this move leaves them without a clear starter at center. Biadasz was their starting center, and he started 31 games for them over the past two seasons. He's a top-10 to 15 center in the NFL and would immediately help any center-needy team like the Packers.

Biadasz was born in Amherst, Wisconsin, where he also played high school football. In high school, he became a top Wisconsin recruit at defensive tackle. However, the Badgers converted him to center, and he became a Freshman All-American his redshirt freshman season. As a junior, he was a unanimous All-American, and he decided to leave for the NFL after that season.

He was picked up in the fourth round by the Dallas Cowboys. He played in Dallas for three seasons before signing a $20.7 million, three-year contract with the Washington Commanders. He was a Pro Bowler in the 2022 season.

He's now back on the market and will be looking for his third NFL team, and the Green Bay Packers should definitely try to bring him home.
