The addition of Nick Boyd out of the portal for Wisconsin is impressive, as he brings in tons of experience (even Final Four experience) and is the right fit for Wisconsin. He can play either guard position and lives on the back of his hard work and hustle. Wisconsin's head coach, Greg Gard, landed one of the best players in the transfer portal (24/7 Sports lists him as No. 45). Yet, for Gard, it's not just the top-ranked status; it's the ability to play at Wisconsin.

The national college basketball accounts reacted very positively to Nick Boyd's becoming a Badger. Overall, they were impressed not just with him but with the entire class that Greg Gard has put together.

The national media thinks that Nick Boyd becoming a Badger is huge for Wisconsin

Nick Boyd is a polished guard who played mostly the point guard position last year for San Diego State University, but can also play the wing, which he did a lot at Florida Atlantic University. He comes to Wisconsin in his fifth and final year of eligibility, hoping to lead the Badgers deeper into the tournament and win the Big Ten.

Boyd is looking forward to joining the Badgers and hopefully playing alongside John Blackwell and Nolan Winter. Winter is for sure back next season as he announced his commitment, but Blackwell is sniffing the NBA waters. If he gets a good draft grade, he could easily go into the NBA. However, he will most likely get a list from the NBA evaluators on things to work on this next season and come back to be that combo with Boyd.

Wisconsin added Boyd to this transfer portal cycle, as well as stretch-4 Austin Rapp and wing Andrew Rohde. This is an impressive transfer class, and it appears that Greg Gard would love to add another one or two members to it.
