The Wisconsin Badgers picked up one of their top targets in the transfer portal this offseason in Nick Boyd from San Diego State. There's a lot to like about this combo guard, who was highly sought after by head coach Greg Gard. Boyd ended up choosing Wisconsin over North Carolina and will immediately bring the right set of skills and experience that Gard is looking for next season for the Badgers. This is a huge pickup.

Wisconsin adds transfer guard Nick Boyd from San Diego State
Nick Boyd is the type of guard Greg Gard loves. He can play the point and on the wing, create his own shot, or distribute for others. This is exactly the type of player he had in John Blackwell and John Tonje last season. Either could set the offense at the top of the key or slide comfortably into the shooting guard role. Boyd has played both positions in his college career.
Boyd also has experience, which was important for Gard as he wants players with a handful of years under their belts and who have been well-coached. Boyd also brings tournament experience as he was on two FAU teams that went into the tournament, including one that went to the Final Four.
This next season will be Boyd's final year of eligibility, and he wants to spend it helping the Badgers get deeper and further in the NCAA Tournament. Last season at SDSU, he averaged 13.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and nearly 30 minutes per game.
Boyd joins an already impressive transfer class put together by the Wisconsin Badgers, featuring Austin Rapp and Andrew Rohde to go along with Boyd. It doesn't appear that Gard is done yet, but even if he were to put a bow on things, this is an impressive three-man transfer class for next season.
