Now that former Wisconsin offensive coordinator Phil Longo has taken over at Sam Houston State, he'd love for some former Badgers to join him in Texas. He's already got one quarterback on board, with signal-caller Mabrey Mettauer committing to Sam Houston State over the weekend.
Now, though, Longo has his sights set on another young quarterback. In this case, we're talking about 2025 prospect Landyn Locke. Locke, the younger brother of former Wisconsin starter Braedyn Locke, signed with UW, but he was released from his signing and is open to join any program he wants. On Monday, Longo put a scholarship offer on the table for him:
Phil Longo has offered former Wisconsin signee Landyn Locke
Not a shocker to see this, as the younger Locke had a previous relationship with Longo when he was committed to play for the Badgers. Landyn Locke is eyeing new programs to sign with. Will he end up making the same move Mettauer is? That remains to be seen.
As for his older brother, Braedyn Locke recently signed with the University of Arizona. As soon as Tyler Van Dyke went down with his torn ACL, Braedyn Locke stepped in as QB1, but he was quite inconsistent with the ball in his hands.
Wisconsin fans have seen plenty of changes for the quarterbacks room, but the good news here is that Billy Edwards Jr., Danny O'Neil and Carter Smith will be joining the program for the 2025 campaign. Smith was previously committed to Michigan, but opened things up amidst the Bryce Underwood speculation.
Edwards feels like the frontrunner to win the job, but O'Neil will be ready to have a say in things too. Back to Landyn Locke, he's ranked three stars and the No. 64 QB in the country according to the 247Sports Composite. He may end up making plays for Longo after all, just not in Madison.
