Badger Fans' Worst Fear Confirmed With Latest Tyler Van Dyke Update
After suffering a knee injury in the first quarter against Alabama, Tyler Van Dyke was taken to the locker room and later appeared on crutches wearing a brace. Fans hoped for the best, but it is now confirmed by multiple sources that Van Dyke suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season.
Van Dyke had transferred to Wisconsin this offseason from Miami (FL) where he had mixed results. He won the Badger starting job in August and played unevenly through two games heading into the Alabama contest. Van Dyke finishes the season with 422 passing yards and one touchdown. Whether he decides to turn professional or use medical redshirt and return to Madison is yet to be seen, and a decision most likely won't come soon.
Wisconsin will now turn it's attention to developing new starter Braedyn Locke. Locke played in five games last season after starter Tanner Mordecai went down with injury, and will now finish the season for the Badgers. The Badgers fortunately will have a bye week this Saturday to give more time for Locke to settle into his role before heading out west to face USC on the 28th.
It's an unfortunate injury to Van Dyke who, by all accounts, was a model student-athlete for Wisconsin.
