Everyone loves quarterbacks and watching them make the big plays. However, in the Big Ten, football is more about defense and the run game.
With the addition of four Pac-12 teams, Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington, that narrative could begin to change. One team comes in and will be an immediate contender for the title, a lot thanks to who they have at a quarterback. The other teams will probably be near the top of the rankings, but could just miss out on a College Football Playoff appearance.
The Big Ten will see a lot of new quarterbacks and a lot of old quarterbacks in new places. There is nothing better than getting to face your old team with a chance to walk away with a win. So which quarterbacks will be the difference maker in a defense and run-heavy conference?
Ryan Hilinski looked to have a bright future in college football back in 2019 as a freshman, at South Carolina. however, after losing his starting job to Spencer Rattler, Hilinski chose to transfer to Northwestern where his numbers did not get much better.
Hilinksi attempted just four passes in 2023, but back in 2022 he had 1,644 yards and six touchdowns, however, he had seven interceptions, which is not a good look. With two quarterbacks entering the portal this offseason, Hilinski seems to be the guy the Wildcats will go with in 2024.
