The NCAA basketball transfer portal officially opened today, and there was a flurry of names that jumped in. Wisconsin will let the vast majority pass on by, but Greg Gard is picky and selective about who he wants to grab in the portal. Therefore, it's important to keep an eye on those he does target. The one player he did target in the portal is now back in it.
Virginia wing Andrew Rohde (@andrewrohde10) has entered the Transfer Portal per @JaceyZembal.

Ex-Virginia player and Wisconsin native Andrew Rohde has entered the portal
Andrew Rohde is a 6'6" guard from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He started his career in St. Thomas, Minnesota, and transferred to Virginia after one year with the Tommies. Greg Gard worked to keep him home, but ultimately, Rohde decided to play under Tony Bennett at Virginia. Now that Bennett has stepped away from coaching, Rohde is back in the portal looking for a new home.
Is Greg Gard still interested? He fits the mold of a veteran-savvy wing who can shoot from every level and make his free throws. Rohde had a 41.3% shooting from behind the arch and he shot 77.3 from the line. These are numbers that will jump off the page for Gard.
Wisconsin needs a wing in the transfer portal. They are losing multiple senior impact players this season: Max Klesmit, Carter Gilmore, Kamari McGee, John Tonje, and Steven Crowl. Klesmit, McGee, and Tonje all played the guard position that Gard needs to replace. At 6'6", Rohde could fit in a variety of spots in Gard's offensive/defensive style.
Rohde averaged 9.3 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.9 rebounds a game last season at Virginia, starting 26 of the 30 games he played in. In many ways, he would fit right in, and he's a name that Wisconsin fans should keep an eye on. A lot of things match: Wisconsin native, Gard has had previous interest, and fits the style of play. Could he be a future Badger? We will see.
