Robin Pingeton has landed an important player out of the transfer portal, her own player. Wisconsin has been able to keep Kyrah Daniels from transferring. She was one of the big bright spots for the Badgers last season, but when she decided to put her name in the portal, it was a big blow. Now, after much deliberation, it's being reported that she's staying in Madison.

Daniels came to Wisconsin this last offseason from Missouri State, where she averaged 12 points and 5 rebounds a game. There were many expecting a solid contribution from Daniels after transferring into the Big Ten, but no one expected her to take a big jump forward as a Badger. She finished last season as one of the best players for Pingeton. She averaged 12.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.
The 6'0 guard found a way to thrive in the Wisconsin system. Yet, the season ended with a disaster for Daniels. She injured her foot in the final tournament game against Columbia. She came back to the bench on crutches, never to return to action, and spent the rest of the game cheering on her teammates while seated with her foot on ice.
This injury may have actually helped Wisconsin retain her, as she's not guaranteed to play right away, and there are even some rumors she may need to sit out for most, if not all, of next season. This would make it hard to transfer to another destination and yet Wisconsin will take care of her, help her get a medical redshirt, and stick back in the lineup as soon as she's ready.
For Pingeton and the Badgers this is a big addition by rentention. In the era of transfers and NIL, one of the best portal moves is to keep a player you know can work in your system, at home.
