Former Badgers star Russell Wilson has been named the New York Giants' starting quarterback, but head coach Brian Daboll said the others will be competing to take it from him. After drafting Jaxson Dart in the first round, there was some wondering if Wilson would end up being the backup to Dart. However, one of the two quarterbacks has looked like a veteran and is impressing early at camp, while the other has looked like a rookie who needs to develop.
Russell Wilson is the clear cut starter for the #Giants.

"These guys will be out here competing but Russ is our starter," Brian Daboll said.
Russell Wilson has already had some highlight reel plays at the Giants training camp
The New York Giants started their training camp today, and Russell Wilson already looks like he's ready to go. He's turning heads with his impressive ability to get the ball down the field, especially on the deep balls. His chemistry with star wide receiver Malik Nabers is developing both on and off the field. Nabers said about Wilson, "He's a great leader, he's one of those quarterbacks that gets everyone going."
Wilson hit Nabers multiple times in training camp for touchdowns. The highlights are already spreading through Giants social media as excitement builds for Wilson and the Giants' season.

While Wilson is the starter, this storyline will continue to be one to watch. Teams don't draft quarterbacks as high as they did Dart and plan just to sit them for years. There will be some itching to get him in, and as soon as Wilson has one bad game, New York fans and media will begin calling for his job. It's not an easy place to be a star.
Wilson, however, has faced numerous adversities and changes in his football career, and he has found a way to use the competition to fuel his own skills and drive. While he may not be a long-time player for the Giants, he is using this season to prove he's still a star quarterback.
