Carter Gilmore is all the rage right now for the Wisconsin Badgers. He rescued the Badgers game on the road versus Northwestern and he hasn't looked back. That victory lap continued against the Indiana Hoosiers in which fans were chanting his name and even "MVP" in regards to his play. The internet was ablaze with all the same level of excitement for a player who's been affectionately named by his teammates: Gilly James.

Not a one hit wonder.
Senior gets a block on one end and a 3-pointer on the other.#Badgers are 6-7 from 3-point range and are off to a 24-4 start on Indiana.
Mike Woodson needs his second timeout of the half with 13:49 left.

Carter Gilmore has another big game against Indiana to chants of MVP
While Gilmore wasn't the leading scorer (John Tonje was at 15), didn't get the most rebounds (John Blackwell did with 8), nor did he play the most minutes (also Tonje). Gilmore's final line was 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 block on 19 minutes. What electrified the crowd, though, was how he shot from behind the arch. Gilmore went 3-3 from deep. These nine points were huge and came at key moments as you could see from the social media posts above.
This is the second game in a row in which a former (and actually current) walk-on in Gilmore stole the show and had the crowd chanting his name. The last game in which he single-handedly kept the Badgers from falling way behind brought the first huge recognition. This game was on the road against Northwestern, and even there, Badgers fans were chanting his name. After the game, he was asked about this experience, and he said, "To see the amount of love that you really have, that's why I play. I am a true Wisconsin Badger. All I want to do is make all the fans happy. I was lucky to go out and be able to do that tonight."
Gilmore is truly a remarkable story in the transfer portal world. When he came to prove that he belonged on the Wisconsin team, developed, and now is receiving chants after five years, when most players would have transferred away, he developed into one of the most beloved Badgers.
