If you had to come up with a list of potential transfers that would leave this offseason, the name Geimere Latimer would have been at the very top of the list. Why? Well, he was the anchor point for 4-star Amari Latimer coming to the Badgers. When Amari went into a bidding war on signing day and ultimately decided to go to West Virginia, the writing was on the wall for Geimere to also move on.
Will Geimere join his brother in West Virginia? You have to assume that's the favorite for the veteran cornerback.

Wisconsin DB Geimere Latimer plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens

Latimer can't officially jump into the portal until it opens on January 2nd, but it's a bit of the wild west right now in the college arena. Agents can make contact and work out deals, and things can happen long before they are supposed to. However, for Geimere, it's normal to declare the intent to transfer, and that's what he has done for now.
For the Badgers, Geimere played mostly slot corner and came in and out in a rotational role. He finished the season with 23 total tackles and one forced fumble. It thins the depth of the room even more, but it's not a gigantic loss for Wisconsin.
The loss for the Badgers happened when Amari decided to go elsewhere, especially because it signalled that Geimere would most likely follow.
Luke Fickell was already going to have to upgrade and strengthen the defensive back room, so Geimere's moving on doesn't change that, but it does only heighten the need to get into the portal and bring in new help at defensive back.
The Badgers have already made contact with one Div-2 defensive back (in Division 2, the portal works differently, and those players can already move around). So, there's activity happening, and Fickell plans to be aggressive for this position.
