Where Wisconsin football ranks in points per game is depressing

Wisconsin football is not in a good place, and few would argue otherwise. It truly may be the worst team in the Big Ten; there's at least a debate to be had there. However, there isn't a debate that they are the worst team in the conference at scoring points. They rank dead last in points per game in the Big Ten, whether you want to go season total or even just Big Ten games exclusively.

The Wisconsin Badgers are sitting at 18.6 points per game so far this season and 10.0 in Big Ten games. That brings them into 18th place in the conference, out of 18. While it feels redundant to spell it out, that's lower than Purdue, UCLA, and Northwestern, because it's lower than all of the Big Ten. Yikes.

To make matters worse, there are only 15 teams worse at scoring than the Badgers in the FBS. Many of those teams are random teams, such as Kent State, Coastal Carolina, and Ball State. This is ONLY ONE team in the Power 4 that's below them, Oklahoma State. The fun fact about the OSU is that they've already fired their head coach.

This means that the Wisconsin Badgers are the worst scoring Power 4 team that has yet to fire their coach. And for clarity's sake, Oklahoma State is sitting at 16.4, which is not that much worse than the Badgers.

This is depressing to write and probably depressing to read, but it's true, and it's another reason that showcases that Wisconsin is not on the right track. They haven't even gotten to the hard part of their schedule. These numbers are with Miami (OH), Middle Tennessee, Maryland, Alabama, and Michigan. Three of those games should have showcased a decent offense, and yet they didn't.
