So you're saying there's a chance? While a ton of focus for Wisconsin Badgers football fans is on signing day for the 2025 class, don't forget that the transfer portal is set to open up on Dec. 9 and run all the way until Dec. 28. Will a splash addition be on the way for Luke Fickell and his staff?
Potentially. Big news recently dropped with Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman deciding that he'll be entering the portal. He's without question one of the top available signal-callers in the country and countless schools will be ready to try to land him.
It looks like the Badgers will be on the list of squads ready to make a run. According to Pete Nakos, Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa, Louisville and Syracuse are all early teams to watch for Weigman. Yeah, this is pretty exciting:
Wisconsin has been mentioned as a potential landing spot for QB Conner Weigman
Weigman is looking for a fresh start elsewhere - a place where he can power an offense and put up strong numbers. The Badgers are in need of a stud QB to run their aerial attack. Carter Smith, a 4-star signal-caller, is on the way for 2025, but he's going to need time to develop.
It's unknown if Tyler Van Dyke will be back on the field next season. With him injured, Braedyn Locke took over as the team's QB1 and while he busted his tail for this team, his play was way too inconsistent. He shouldn't be the starter next fall.
However, Weigman has a ton of potential and he has an exciting future. The Badgers and Fickell are obviously going to have stiff competition to get him to town, but adding Weigman to the QBs room would fire up a lot of fans out there. He will most definitely be a player to keep an eye on over the next few weeks.
