Here we go, folks. In only a few days, things have been heating up for the Wisconsin Badgers and potentially adding another quarterback for the 2025 class. Not long ago, 4-star quarterback prospect Carter Smith decommitted from Michigan.
With all the Bryce Underwood rumors flying around, it wasn't a surprise that Smith was going to open up his recruitment. The surprise here, though, is that Wisconsin was immediately mentioned as a potential landing spot for the touted quarterback.
Now, though, things are reaching a new level. According to On3 Sports' Steve Wiltfong, Smith has locked in his official visit to Madison for the Nov. 16 showdown against Oregon. So, Smith will be on campus, where things will be rocking, for when the Badgers host the top team in the country? This is big news:
4-star QB Carter Smith will visit Wisconsin for the game vs. No. 1 Oregon
According to Wiftlong, Clemson and Penn State are also in the mix. The Nittany Lions are looking to make a splash at quarterback, as they're hosting 5-star prospect Matt Zollers, a Missouri commit, this weekend for a visit too.
As for Wisconsin, Luke Fickell already has 2025 QB Landyn Locke, the younger brother of starting quarterback Braedyn Locke, on board for the class. However, it sure looks like Fickell is hoping to make a splash at the position, which is where Smith could come into play.
Smith is a 6-2.5, 185-pounder from Fort Myers, Fla. He's one of the top quarterback prospects in the country, which is why it's not a stunner that Wisconsin is working so quickly to get him on campus and show him what his future could be like if he picks the Badgers.
The Early Signing Period is a little over a month away, with things getting started on Dec. 4. There's plenty of time for Smith to take multiple visits and then come to a decision. Right now, though, countless people in Madison are hoping he'll end up being Wisconsin-bound. The visit for the Oregon game could help send things over the top for Fickell here.
