Wisconsin Badgers facing serious competiton for 4-star QB taking visit soon
We are less than a month away from the Early Signing Period opening for college football programs across the country. Luke Fickell and his Wisconsin Badgers staff have been hard at work on the recruiting trail, but a splash addition for the 2025 class or two could be on the way.
Right now, there are countless eyes on 4-star quarterback Carter Smith, who recently announced he was no longer committed to Michigan. Smith wasted no time in setting up his official visit to Madison, as he'll be in town to watch Wisconsin host No. 1 Oregon next weekend.
The Badgers are not the only program trying to make a splash with Smith, though. In a new article from 247Sports' Brian Dohn, he's reporting that Penn State, Clemson, Florida, Utah and Florida State have all been in contact too. The good news, though, is Wisconsin is for sure getting one of his official visits. The bad news, though, is that there's serious competition to land his services.
The Wisconsin Badgers are hoping to land a verbal from 4-star QB Carter Smith
Smith is the top uncommitted QB in the land per 247Sports. Fickell and Co. already have a QB on board for '25, as Landyn Locke, the younger brother of starting QB Braedyn Locke, has been a pledge for quite some time.
However, Smith is a true stud and taking two QBs is something Fickell will surely be willing to do if it means adding the 4-star prospect. Depending on how things go for Smith during his official visit in Madison, it could potentially send things over the top for the Badgers - especially if it's a close game vs. the Ducks.
The Early Signing Period is set to get started on Dec. 4 and run until Dec. 6. There's still plenty of time for Smith to take multiple visits and take his time before making his final decision. Let's hope he decides Wisconsin is the next place he wants to call home, though.
