It has been a busy few days recruiting wise for the Wisconsin Badgers and head coach Luke Fickell. On Monday alone, SIX players from the transfer portal committed to play for UW - yeah, it was a day to remember for the coaching staff.
Of those six players, two quarterbacks announced for the Badgers, with San Diego State QB Danny O'Neil and Maryland QB Billy Edwards Jr. ready to battle it out for the starting job. With Tyler Van Dyke and Brandyn Locke deciding to transfer, adding experience for the QBs room is huge for Wisconsin.
Originally, it was looking like Locke's younger brother Landyn Locke was going to be heading to Madison, as he signed with the Badgers as part of the 2025 class. On Monday night, though, the younger Locke decommitted and said his recruitment is now fully back open again:
I have decommitted and am no longer signed to the University of Wisconsin. I am thankful for the opportunity but my recruitment is 100% open.

QB Landyn Locke has decommitted from Wisconsin
With Braedyn transferring and Wisconsin signing 4-star QB Carter Smith, it seemed like the writing was on the wall for Landyn Locke. Add in the fact that two signal-callers have arrived via the transfer portal and it just seemed like he was going to have a mountain to climb to see playing time.
Landyn Locke originally committed to Wisconsin in June of 2023. He gave Fickell his verbal over additional offers from Duke, Miami, SMU and several others. Unfortunately for Locke, he suffered a torn ACL early on during his senior campaign, missing the rest of the season after appearing in only two games.
He remained solid in his pledge to the Badgers, but Fickell and Co. were aggressive in going after Smith following his decommitment from Michigan. Landyn Locke was announced by the Badgers earlier this month during the Early Signing Period, but now he's free to put the pen to paper with anyone he wants. It won't take long for him to find a new spot, but we now know he won't be calling Madison home.
