Wisconsin basketball did not have a game on Tuesday night, but Badgers fans were still watching, doing so with an incredibly high basketball IQ and paying attention to the teams they've already played. Badgers fans celebrated as the March Madness resume improved Tuesday night with some big wins from former foes.
The Arizona Wildcats win over West Virginia continues to bolster the Wisconsin March Madness resume.
Badger fans were most attuned to Arizona's big win. In the fourth game of the season for Wisconsin, they were able to topple the 9th-ranked (at the time) Wildcats. This was a big win at the time but has since eroded as Arizona has gone 9-5 on the season. At one point, they were 4-5 before this five-game winning streak, with two ranked wins in a row against Cincinnati and West Virginia.
That wasn't the only game that Wisconsin fans noticed went in their favor when it came to boosting the resume. Badger fans also noticed that Iowa picked up a big win over a surging Nebraska team. The Corn Huskers were on the verge of becoming ranked this week before they let this game slip to the Hawkeyes. Wisconsin was able to beat Iowa just last week in a record-breaking performance, scoring 116 points at home.
Now, Wisconsin fans can't have all the cake when it comes to a perfect resume-building day for Pitt lost to Duke, which is a quality loss, but a win would have been huge. Speaking of quality losses, which is actually a thing regarding resumes, both Michigan and Marquette also picked up wins today.
Michigan and Marquette are two of Wisconsin's three losses, and as much as those losses sting, the better those two teams play, the better the resume becomes. A quad-one loss hurts nowhere near as bad as a quad-three loss. So far, all of Wisconsin's losses are quad-one.
Badger fans celebrate a good Tuesday for resume-building.
