The Milwaukee Bucks had the 47th pick in the NBA Draft, and they had a chance to draft Wisconsin wing John Tonje. They chose to pass and pick Bogoljub Markovic from Serbia instead. Most Wisconsin Badger fans are also Milwaukee Bucks fans and would have celebrated the ability to keep Tonje home, and many believe the fit was perfect, too. However, Bucks General Manager Jon Horst chose to pass, and UW fans are not happy.

Fans took to social media to express their frustration that the Bucks didn't pick John Tonje

John Tonje was projected to be selected around the 40th pick, but anywhere between 39-50, and so it's not a huge surprise, but it did feel like the timing was perfect. When the Bucks were five picks away, Tonje was considered the fifth-best player available. Then it was four and four. Finally, when the Bucks were on the clock, he was the third-best player available. It seemed like destiny, but the Bucks chose the second-best available.

There are numerous examples of social media posts similar to the ones above. Fans saw a great opportunity and are now caught with mixed feelings as John Tonje continued to slip further into the draft and began to flirt with being undrafted.

John Tonje became a Wisconsin legend in just one season for the Badgers. He came as a transfer in from Missouri after being injured for the majority of the season. He was pretty unheralded, but he blew up and became the best player for Greg Gard and the Badgers. Wisconsin fans will forever see him as a legend, even in his one season.

There was great hope he would stay in Wisconsin and play for the Milwaukee Bucks and Doc Rivers. That won't be the case unless he goes undrafted and is signed by them, which both feel unlikely.
