Another game vs. a ranked team, another heartbreaking loss for the Wisconsin Badgers. This time, Luke Fickell and Co. had Oregon on the ropes, but the No. 1 team in the country was able to escape with a 16-13 win.
Wisconsin had a chance to tie things up late, or potentially take the lead, but a Braedyn Locke interception ended any hopes of that happening. However, before that INT was recorded, a highly questionable chop block call was called against Wisconsin running back Tawee Walker. However, if you ask us, this was a completely absurd decision from the officials. How was this called?
A phantom chop block call on Wisconsin haunted them vs. Oregon
This unfortunate call, which should have never been made, came with Oregon and Wisconsin tied at 13-13. It also came on a 3rd-down play, which the Badgers were able to convert thanks to a strong throw from Locke. It would have extended the drive for Fickell and Co.
However, the penalty pushed Wisconsin deep into its own territory and there was no magic on the following play to move the sticks. Oregon got the ball back and they ended up posting the 16-13 victory, improving to 11-0.
Not long ago, Wisconsin had Penn State on the ropes too, but a Locke pick-six changed everything. This time around, Locke had the opportunity to be a hero in Madison with under two minutes to go, but his interception came at the worst time possible.
With that mistake, Locke has now thrown an interception in seven consecutive games. Not only that, but Wisconsin is now riding a three-game losing streak, which has them at 5-5 on the season. Bowl eligibility is still in the cards for this team, but morale can't be too high after this latest matchup where it looked like they were going to stun the country. The terrible call against Walker truly may have changed everything for this team.
