A new player who is planning to jump into the transfer portal on January 2, when it opens, has a familiar last name. Greydon Grimes is a 6'6 285-pound offensive lineman, and Grimes should ring a bell. He's the son of Wisconsin offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes. He's young, with some talent, and three years to play. Put him under his dad and one of the best offensive linemen developers in the game, Eric Mateos, and who knows what will happen.
Grimes needs to bring home his own son to help shore up the depth of the offensive line. How good is Greydon, though?

Wisconsin may be the favorite to land high-potential Greydon Grimes

Grimes was a 3-star out of high school. He actually played mostly tight end and defensive end in high school. He came to Kansas with the idea of playing defensive line, but was moved to offensive line to provide depth, and seems to have found his footing there.
However, according to his profile on the Kansas Jayhawks football site, he answered his favorite football player as follows: "J.J. Watt because we have a similar frame and he is one of the best D-Linemen to do it."
While he wouldn't solve the issues at offensive line for Wisconsin, he would bring depth, and there would be ample opportunity for him to prove he should be a starter. At Kansas, as a redshirt-freshman, he only played in one game against Wagner.
It does seem like he would not only fit what Eric Mateos wants to bring in for offensive linemen, but also already has an "in" with the program, and his favorite player is a former Wisconsin Badger. The writing is on the wall in many ways. Will he come home to play for his dad when the portal opens in January?
