The transfer portal season is the craziest time of the year. Players are going in, players are going out. Some are going both in and out, which is what happened to Luke Fickell this weekend. He just had an epic case of transfer portal whiplash as Grand Valley State transfer DL Jibriel Conde committed to the Badgers on Friday, and by Monday, he's off to the Kansas Jayhawks.
The portal season isn't even officially upon the FBS until January 2nd, but with all the coaching changes and other divisions having different timings, the craziness has started early. Conde may be a sign that this year, it could be crazier than most years.
The coaching carousel may also showcase the madness that is descending on this year's offseason. Players who lost head coaches can jump in now, and that includes a whole lot of schools. This presents an opportunity for Luke Fickell, but he also needs to be ready for the madness.

Grand Valley State transfer DL Jibriel Conde has already flipped to Kansas

Conde is listed as the No. 1 defensive lineman in the portal. However, that's a slightly inflated ranking considering that for most of the FBS, the portal hasn't even opened. He's good, but it's hard to know how good he is coming out of Grand Valley State.
Evan Flood of On3.com says that his agent's only statement about his flip from Friday to Monday was, "His heart was in Kansas. Just felt like the right decision." Wisconsin fans are already assuming it came down to the money and are worried that Fickell is being outbid already.
Chris McIntosh did promise that this year would be a bigger investment and Luke Fickell would have the resources to upgrade the roster, but this isn't a great sign in the early stages, if it truly did come down to a bigger check at Kansas.
