Mike Woodson and the Indiana basketball program have been struggling all season long. For a roster that is comprised of some elite talent to flounder throughout the season is a huge source of frustration for both coaching staff and fans. The calls for Mike Woodson's job have been furious for weeks now with some fans even chanting it throughout the game. The split was bound to happen at some point, but it came after Wisconsin steamrolled them.
Indiana and coach Mike Woodson are in discussions about the coach’s wishes to step away at end of 2024-25, sources tell me/ @jeffborzello . He’s expected coach the rest of the year, but is unlikely to return next year. The details of the exit are being discussed. pic.twitter.com/3bqvwIZKLx

According to reports, Mike Woodson wants to step away from Indiana after the season
Indiana has lost four straight basketball games and 6 of the last 7. It's a program headed in the wrong direction, and it shows. While most of the previous four losses for the Hoosiers have been relatively close, the Badgers blew the doors off of Indiana. Jokes and memes throughout the game were being posted when, within six minutes, Wisconsin had a 20-point lead.

It led to a viral post after the game from Barstool Sports. The post was about how Mike Woodson said after the game that the "team came out with good intentions." Which led to more mockery and laughter about how good intentions don't win ball games. Or if this is what good intentions look like, we don't want any of that.
The season has been dying for the Hoosiers, and it may have been Wisconsin who put the final nail in the coffin. Four in a row and then an uninspiring Big Ten loss and a coach that seems like he has no answers, yes, it may be time to step away.
Per my sources, the reason for the potential step down:

Mike Woodson had “never seen a team shoot that well” and “bully our players in the paint” like Wisconsin did last Tuesday. Safe to say the Badgers might have forced him into retirement. https://t.co/av0fv6kxgS
It appears that Mike Woodson initiated the conversation to end his tenure, and he would wisely step away on his own. The conversations about him keeping the job were ongoing, and he may have been forced out after this season anyway. To that, we say, "On Wisconsin!"
