Wisconsin added another quarterback to the roster via the transfer portal. Deuce Adams, a redshirt sophomore from Louisville, will be part of the backup plan behind Colton Joseph. Adams played a backup role at Louisville but did see some action in 2025, he played in six games but mostly just a snap or two. But he joins a quarterback room that has an underrated bonus of being young.
He attempted 21 passes, had 15 completions for 112 yards. He also rushed 14 times for 33 yards. It's more about his potential than his current readiness, which may be the theme for the quarterback room this next season. Let's take a peek in the room and look around.
Wisconsin adds a second transfer portal quarterback with former Louisville QB Deuce Adams. He completed 15 of 21 passes for 112 yards last season and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Wisconsin now has four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. There's, of course, the star of the show and QB1, Colton Joseph. He comes from Old Dominion and was one of the top quarterbacks in the portal this season. The goal is for him to play the entire 2026 season, marking the first year since Luke Fickell came to Wisconsin where he's had a healthy quarterback for the whole season.
Behind him, there are three quarterbacks who will battle for the second and third string spots. However, let's start with Danny O'Neil, who may not be ready to even be the second string next season. He suffered a major injury last season and very possibly is still recovering into next season. So, the chances of him starting the year as QB2 are low.
Then it's Carter Smith, who was a true freshman last year and was thrust into action when other quarterbacks were injured around him. He recently got a new deal to stay at Wisconsin and continue to develop.
Or it could be this new transfer quarterback, Deuce Adams. The common denominator among all four quarterbacks is that they are young and have extra eligibility. Joseph will be the oldest of the bunch, but still only a junior. O'Neil will most likely get a medical redshirt and could, in theory, be a redshirt sophomore.
Smith will be a true sophomore, and Adams will be a redshirt sophomore. The underrated bonus of the Wisconsin quarterback room is that it's built really well for the present but also the future.
