Luke Fickell remains on fire in the recruiting department with another big commitment from defensive lineman Will Zaccagnino. A 3-star product and one of the top players in the state of Connecticut. Zaccagnino is a massive recruit, measuring in at 6'5 and 270 pounds with room to put on even more at the next level. He joins a very impressive recruiting class for the Badgers.

Wisconsin's defensive line coach, E.J. Whitlow, has been in pursuit of Zaccagnino since March and was one of the first high-major programs to lock in on the massive recruit. Since then, his offers have poured in, with 14 total. He even has/had visits lined up with five of his top schools: Michigan State, Missouri, UCONN, Syracuse, and Wisconsin.

It's not known whether Zaccagnino will continue to take those visits, as he gave his pledge to Luke Fickell and the Badgers today. However, he's part of a big recruiting push for the Badgers' 2027 class. He's now the 11th player to commit, but the first along the defensive line.

Wisconsin now holds the 12th-best recruiting class in the country with this latest pickup, up one spot from yesterday. Though the majority of the class is built on in-state recruits, Zaccagnino is the only player from out of Wisconsin to add to the class.

This in-state recruiting push has been an important indicator that Fickell is working to turn things around and that there is more funding to bring in top talent. Now, the question will be how Fickell does in the out-of-state department. Can he keep the momentum towards a top-15 class, since he's already collected all the top Wisconsin players, and the rest of the class is built around other states? Adding Zaccagnino is a good sign as he's one of the top recruits in Connecticut.
