4-star running back Amari Latimer is arguably Wisconsin's top 2026 commit. He's the brother of Geimere Latimer, and he's been committed to the Badgers since the end of June. That doesn't mean he hasn't at least allowed other suitors and schools to come calling. Even though he's said and his father has said that he's a hard commit to Wisconsin, he is still taking his visits. The most recent one was to Ohio State.

That visit secured him some new gear. That's where it all went haywire with Amari and Badger fans. Under the lights on Friday night, Latimer was electric once again, and he had four touchdowns in the first quarter. While doing that, he wore new Ohio State sleeves and arguably Buckeye gloves too.

Badger fans called out Amari Latimer for his Ohio State sleeves as "disrespectful"

This display caused Wisconsin fans to call out Latimer for not being truly committed and being disrespectful to the Badgers, as he continues to take other visits. He's scheduled to take one to Georgia Tech this weekend. A fanbase already beleaguered on the field is now frustrated in the recruiting ranks, seeing their top recruit openly flaunting other schools, even rival Big Ten schools.

Latimer received the message loud and clear; he took to X and responded, "I do understand your point of view. That wasn't my intent, but I understand how it looks and how it's disrespectful. Wasn't my intent but you are not wrong for feeling how you feel. This was on me. I'm gonna correct this."

This level-headed, mature, and appropriate response silenced Badger fans. Sure, there may have been some trolls that doubled down, but many more called his response exceptional and refreshing. Many started to defend him for being a 17-year-old and thus acting like one. The response above even showed one fan saying, "Not sure I've ever wanted a recruit to be a Badger more."

The drama may continue, especially if the product on the field doesn't change, but for now, the recruiting development of Amari Latimer seems to trend the Badgers' way.
