The Wisconsin athletics department is on a real cold streak, especially with this latest women's basketball coaching hire. They basically had a forced resignation coach leave, only to hire another forced resignation coach, Robin Pingeton. She hasn't had a 20-win season in seven years and went .532 overall at Mizzou and .422 in conference. This has led fans to be frustrated with Chris McIntosh and Wisconsin for making this hire. Some fans are even comparing it to when the New York Jets hired Adam Gase.
It gets worse, when the department was already taking an L, they worked so hard to make sure her accolades and accomplishments were posted. Maybe hoping to offset the heat of the hire, only to post a woefully errant list of accomplishments. It was publicly ridiculed, and Wisconsin eventually pulled it down. Today, UW posted a new one with a way more accurate listing of her career.
I think the #Badgers are conflating Pingeton's time in the Missouri Valley conference (Illinois State) with her time at the University of Missouri.

Pingeton never won the SEC tournament at Mizzou, but did win the MVC tourney twice.
Pingeton has 1 SEC CotY and 2 MVC CotY. https://t.co/5Jiw8LSFGq pic.twitter.com/Day3QMeFlO
Wisconsin conflated Robin Pingeton's accomplishments in a now-deleted social media post
Kedrick Stumbris, who posted the above social media post, is right. It looks like they were conflating her experience at Illinois State, which is in the Missouri Valley Conference, with her time at Missouri. This was either a giant mistake or gaslighting to the extreme. I would like to think it was the first. However, there were so many errors in the graphic that it's hard to think that it was that far off.
We need to have a conversation about this graphic.

Career wins - wrong, according to Wikipedia it's 584
Postseason appearances - sure, but only 6 in the NCAA tournament
3 regular-season titles - again, sure, but none at Missouri. Last was 15 years ago at ISU
2 SEC Tournament… https://t.co/2ZlDRa1GoT
Skim Milkey, who's known for her women's basketball insider posts, corrects a lot of the errors on the graphic. They were one off on the wins from 585 to 584. Wisconsin posted she had 20 appearances in the postseason but only 6 in the NCAA Tournament. It was wrong about the SEC tournament titles and the number of 20+ win seasons. Also, how many times she won Coach of the Year, the list goes on and on. It wasn't just sort of wrong, it was woefully wrong.
This morning, Wisconsin posted an update that removed all the inflated and conflated facts. It's now accurate, which is great to see. Maybe Robin Pingeton ends up being great, but Wisconsin has to start on better footing in the future. This doesn't inspire a lot of fan trust.
