Greg Gard and the Wisconsin Badgers hit a home run in the transfer portal last year by grabbing John Tonje. The Badgers lost Chucky Hepburn and AJ Storr to the portal but were able to pick up arguably the best player in the Big Ten this season in Tonje. Gard is once again keeping his eyes on the portal to see if there are other high-impact players that they can target and bring in. The first one we've heard about with any sort of credibility is Quinton Mincey from UMASS.

Quinton Mincey from UMASS has received interest from the Wisconsin Badgers
Quinton Mincey is a long and athletic wing at 6'6 in height who uses his length both on the offensive and defensive end. He averaged 16.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. He shot 48.6% from the field and 77.9% from the line. He has a 38% three-point shooting in his career.
This will be his sixth year in college basketball, and he will be listed as a senior. He only played three games in his freshman year for Mount St. Mary's, which became a no-eligible year. He also, like all the other players in his era, added a year because of COVID. Therefore, he will only have one final year and wants to play for a school where he can make an impact.
This will be the second transfer in his career. After his one bench season at Mount St. Mary's, he left for UMASS, where he has been ever since. Portal report says he's hearing from Wisconsin, Charlotte, George Mason, and George Washington. This may not be an exciting list for Wisconsin fans but Greg Gard looks for very specific type players to fit into the mold at Wisconsin. He's not just looking for stars but impact players who can do what needs to be done to get the wins.
