The other day, the social media account "College Basketball Report" posted a graphic with the "best player from each state." It's a post with the sole purpose of generating buzz and fanbases reacting to it. There's some rage-bait to it. However, when they had Chase Ross of Marquette as the Wisconsin "best player," Badger fans went after it. Drawn right into the narrative.
It aged super poorly as the next day, Chase Ross and Marquette struggled against the Wisconsin Badgers, losing by 20 points. John Blackwell scored 30 points, and fans were quick to remind the account how wrong they were about the best player in the state. The official Wisconsin Basketball account decided to jump into the discourse with a hilarious response.

Wisconsin basketball reminds the nation that there are two alphas for the Badgers

It's a fantastic use of the Spiderman meme, as not only does it create the hilarity of the clap-back of the original post, but it also reminds Marquette fans and the nation that Wisconsin actually has two players that are better than Chase Ross: Nick Boyd and John Blackwell.
Though it was Blackwell who showed the world that he could outduel Chase Ross when he scored 30 points against Marquette. Though maybe it should be noted that Nick Boyd also scored more than Ross, as Boyd had 15 and Ross only had 12. However, if that's the rationale, then we might as well put Ross below Nolan Winter, who scored 13, and Andrew Rohde, who scored 17.
At the end of the game, it's a fun way to end the rivalry. Poking at a rivalry and using a viral tweet to accomplish it. Yet, it is obvious and should be to everyone that both Boyd and Blackwell are the best players in the state, and it's not all that close.
