Wisconsin volleyball is off to a hard start this season, with only one loss on its record and a bunch of dominant wins. The latest came against a three-set sweep of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Now, as the weekend comes to a close, Wisconsin is leading the nation in maybe the two most important stats: assists and kills per set.

The Badgers have a 13.85 assists per set average, which is ahead of Duquesne at 13.81 and Kentucky at 13.80 to round out the top three. This is elite-level assists and a huge credit to star setter Charlie Fuerbringer, who is leading the way with 11.40 per set. She's ranked fourth in the nation in setting per set. She has 285 assists on the season on only 25 sets.

Assists aren't the only stat that Wisconsin finds themselves towards the top of the nation in. The Badgers lead the nation in kills per set, too, with 14.85. Once again, Duquesne and Kentucky are the teams chasing them. There's a big reason these teams are all leading in the same categories, and it's because assists and kills go together pretty nicely.

For the Badgers, Mimi Colyer is leading the way nationally in kills per set with 5.35. She's been electric with her 139 kills in only 26 sets.

There's a reason both Kentucky and Wisconsin find themselves at the top of the rankings, as well as the statistics. Kentucky is ranked No. 3 in the nation, while Wisconsin is ranked No. 7. Neither has shied away from top competition, and it's impressive that each team is finding its way to the top of the leaderboards in these categories while playing against the best.

The Badgers are also third in hitting percentage at .325 behind only Tennessee (.335) and Indiana (.332). There's a lot to love about this early start to the Badgers, and it seems like this young team is only getting better and better.
