Wisconsin's top 2027 commit hasn't wavered at all in his decision to be a Badger, and as flips are happening all over the country, Mekhi Williams is still locked in on Wisconsin. Williams is a 4-star safety in his class and is considered one of the top prospects in the entire 2027 recruiting class and one of the best safeties in the country.
He posted on social media recently to make sure Badger fans knew he is still just as excited about becoming a Badger as he was when he made his verbal commitment. Williams' post read like this: "I sign next month... I can't wait till it's all official." He then dropped the "Badger" emoji and one of his own quotes he likes to remind himself and others of his lofty goals. "When it's all said and done, I'm gonna be the best to do it."

“When it’s all said and done I’m gonna be the best to do it” -Mekhi Williams.
This is an encouraging development in the recruiting cycle. It's hard for Wisconsin to keep their top recruits, as the recruiting world is the Wild West more often than not. Yet, here's a 4-star defensive back out of Florida that 25 offers from all of the big names like Alabama, Florida, Auburn, LSU, and many more who remains committed.
Mekhi Williams is part of an excellent 2027 recruiting class for the Wisconsin Badgers

Williams also continues to work; he knows that to be "the best to do it" requires a ton of work. So Badger fans were met with two great pieces of news in that one post. That he remains committed to the Badgers and plans to sign soon, but also that he's still working to be the best safety in college football.
He could have taken his foot off the gas as a junior when he was already getting 4-star ratings and being invited to the Under Armor All-America Game, but this season he continues to excel. He helped lead his high school (Lennard) to their first-ever district championship win. He posted after that, "I’m not done yet; plenty [history] more to make in Madison soon."
Williams is the top piece alongside in-state running back Kingston Allen right now in a loaded 2027 class for the Badgers. Luke Fickell has really stacked up a great class coming in if they all make it to signing day. It's currently ranked No. 22 in the Nation and has hovered around the top 25.
What helped push it into the No. 22 spot was a flip that Wisconsin recently got from 4-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson. Tyson flipped from Washington to Wisconsin in a surprise move, on a weekend when Wisconsin was getting throttled by Iowa.
This recruiting class reminds us that while this year still holds a ton of promise, so does the future.
