Greg Gard just did something he hasn't done in years, landing multiple top-100 recruits. It started with in-state 4-star guard Jalen Brown, and now he's landed 4-star Minnesota wing/small forward Baboucarr Ann. This is a huge pickup for Badgers and adds to a recruiting class that may be as good as any in Gard's tenure.

Ann is the No. 40 overall recruit on Rivals and No. 63 overall recruit on 24/7 Sports. He's also the No. 1 player in the state of Minnesota. Greg Gard has now landed two recruits from the state of Minnesota in a great win for the Badgers, stealing the best players away from the Golden Gophers and helping increase the Badger talent overall.

Ann is a tremendous talent that Wisconsin rarely sees in a recruit. According to Badger of Honor's very own Owen Jury's scouting report: "The 6-foot-5 forward is a sturdy and powerful athlete capable of overwhelming defenses with his athletic and physical gifts. He isn't just an athlete either, as Ann possesses a really strong handle — particularly for a player his size — allowing him to handle the ball in spurts. He pairs that handle with some interesting passing feel as well, making him all the more dynamic when moving toward the rim."

Jalen Brown was the first to make a splash in the 2027 recruiting class. He's an incredible in-state guard and helped silence some of the worries about Gard's in-state recruiting. Brown is one of the few who haven't left for Iowa State and has decided to embrace the "hometown hero" label. He's the top recruit in the class according to 24/7 Sports and set the tone for this class.

Gard then went and grabbed 7-footer 3-star Jack Thelen from Minnesota. He's raw and big but looks to have a high ceiling. A player who can really elevate the class, but also helped Gard land Baboucarr Ann as they play on the same team. Ann now joins his teammate and friend Thelen as a Badger.

So these three make up probably the total class for Greg Gard in 2027. Though there are other offers out there, and Gard may try to land another player or two. At the moment, this is an exceptional class and is now ranked top-5 in 2027. Wisconsin literally has the No. 3 recruiting class in 2027 for basketball recruiting, according to 24/7 Sports. That's something you don't see every day.

It's also a great class, not just because of talent but because of balance. Gard has a big man who is growing into his ability and then a star guard (Brown) with an incredible wing (Ann). Big news for Wisconsin basketball as Gard is trying to compete with Luke Fickell and Kelly Sheffield for an incredible recruiting run at Wisconsin.
