Earlier this week, three Wisconsin Badgers targets were close to making a decision. On Thursday, the Badgers finally landed their first player from the transfer portal.
Former Virginia guard Andrew Rohde, a native of Milwaukee, transfers to Wisconsin.

Rohde was a three-star guard from Brookfield Central High School in 2022, averaging 28.5 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 6.1 APG in his senior year. Despite offers from notable Midwest programs, DePaul and UW-Milwaukee, he committed to St. Thomas.
As a true freshman, Rohde started 31 games for the Tommies and averaged 17.5 PPG, making him one of the top freshman scorers in the country. After the season, he transferred to Virginia.
His first season in Charlottesville was a struggle. Rohde's scoring average dipped down to a mere 4.3 PPG. In addition, his three-point percentage fell from 32% at St. Thomas to 25.7%. It looked like the transition from the Summit League to the Atlantic Coast Conference was too much for him.
Rhode's performance last season was much improved, as his scoring increased to 9.3 PPG. After only three games of 10+ PPG in the 2023-24 season, Rohde had 14 double-digit scoring games, including a 15-point outing against third-ranked Duke on February 17th.
The most notable improvement in Rhode's scoring has been his three-point shooting. Rhode shot an excellent 41.3% this season from behind the three-point line. Given how much Greg Gard utilized the three-point shot in 2025, Rhode has a chance to fit right into the Badgers offense.
There are three possible ways Rohde can make an impact for Wisconsin next season. Rohde can take over Max Klesmit's duties as guard or as the starting wing, given his 6' 6" frame. With the Badgers still active in the transfer portal and hopefully looking to land Nick Boyd, there's a possibility that Rohde can be the sixth man off the bench for Wisconsin.
Many moving parts remain undetermined, but Rohde is a great transfer portal pickup for the Wisconsin Badgers.
