If Luke Fickell could only land one recruit from busy visit weekend, it's a no-brainer

Another busy weekend and Luke Fickell has all the momentum.

The Wisconsin Badgers are having a great season in 2027 recruiting. They've been right around a top-15 class and landed four recruits from their first weekend of official visits. That's insane momentum that Fickell is carrying into the second weekend of official visits. This weekend is going to be a lot different with zero currently committed Wisconsin recruits (last weekend had 13).

This actually may make it more important for Fickell. Last weekend he had tons of help in the recruiting from the already committed. Now, it's up to him and his staff and if there's only one recruit that Wisconsin lands, it's a no-brainer that it's 4-star offensive tackle Alijah Shaw.

According to 24/7 Sports, there are six recruits headed to Wisconsin for the weekend. All six would be huge additions to the class, and thus, narrowing it down is nearly impossible, if it weren't for Shaw. The 6'8, 275-pound tackle is a monster and would come in with a loaded resume of protecting quarterbacks at the high school level. More on Shaw in a minute.

There are only good options for Luke Fickell and his priority targets who come to Madison this weekend

The answer could have been 3-star wide receiver Steele Harris, the No. 1 player in the state of Montana. He has star power and could be a guy who works his way into the receiver rotation fairly quickly in Madison. However, he's already close and could be committing this weekend. Not only that, but let's be real, as Wisconsin fans, we are always checking on offensive linemen and running backs.

There are also a couple of players who could flip this weekend, in Chuck Alexander, who's currently committed to Louisville. Texas Tech edge commit Brody Pfannenstiel is another who is giving Wisconsin one final chance to convince him to be a Badger. There's a chance for Pfannenstiel, but there's actual debate whether Alexander is coming or not.

The other recruits on the docket for this weekend are also priority targets. Yahzeen Zion jumps off the page as a great defensive line recruit. His high school coach said, "[Zion is] the most talented interior defensive lineman I’ve ever seen at the high school level in Arizona in person." So, don't sleep on Zion. If he pulled the trigger, there would still be plenty of revelry to be had.

The final recruit on the list, James Roberson, is closing in on his fourth star and would clearly be a big addition. Yet, with Mekhi Williams now in the fold, does that change how Roberson views his decision to choose Wisconsin?

Thus, it has to be Shaw. The 4-star offensive tackle is a big body and a big target for Fickell. He seems to be deciding between Arkansas, Iowa State, and Wisconsin, though Ole Miss is fully in the hunt. If Fickell makes a great impression on him this weekend, and Madison shows out like it did last weekend, Shaw could easily be committing to the Badgers, and the recruiting momentum continues to surge towards Fickell and his staff.
