Tanyuel Welch jumped into the transfer portal just a couple of weeks ago, but she's heard from pretty much everyone, or so it seems. She has 18 different schools that have reached out and are trying to bring her into the program, and Wisconsin actually has a chance. It may take a good offer and a strong commitment, but she's the type of guard that Pingeton loves to use: long and versatile.
Welch is taking her first visit to Purdue this weekend, she told @On3sports.

Tanyuel Welch has heard from Robin Pingeton and Wisconsin about transferring
Tanyuel Welch is highly coveted in many ways because she's a 5'10" guard with two years left of eligibility. She also started 25 of the 30 games this season for Memphis, playing nearly 30 minutes per game. That's very helpful experience for a team in need of exactly that. However, she wasn't lost or struggling; she did excellent in those 30 minutes a game. She averaged 10.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. She also shot three-pointers at a 45% clip.
She's someone that Robin Pingeton could build around if she's able to bring her in. It would be a high-value add for a team that desperately needs players this offseason. Pingeton has lost most of her roster after the previous head coach, Marisa Moseley, resigned, and now she has to rebuild basically the whole thing.
Pingeton was able to add one new transfer, Laci Steele from NC State, which is certainly a splash hire, but there are still so many holes. The roster consists of seven players right now, counting Steele. That's barely enough to play basketball, much less get through a whole season. Which means that Pingeton is working hard to bring in transfers and searching far and wide to bring in ideal fits that can help the program take a big leap forward in her first season as head coach.
