The news this week for the Wisconsin Badgers is a bit all over the place. There are updates on recruiting for basketball and football, and the house settlement is a big deal. Even though it's early June, there seems to be a lot going on around Wisconsin and college football in general.
Is Amari Latimer close to choosing the Badgers?
4-star RB Amari Latimer is down to Florida State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, and Georgia. Lately, all the buzz has been about the Badgers and Latimer. On3.com has added a prediction for Latimer to choose Wisconsin. There's also the fact that he's back on campus even though he was there for his official just last week. That seems to be a great sign.
He's the top priority of the 2026 recruiting class, and it appears that there is a lot of momentum for the Wisconsin Badgers to close the deal.
The House Settlement vs. The NCAA has resolution
This is simply big collegiate news, as Judge Claudia Wilken has approved the house settlement. This basically means that colleges can now directly pay their players. It also adds a 105 roster limit for football and 15 for basketball. There are a lot of implications still coming, but this is the first step toward a bit more guidance and rules around pay-to-play. It's been the Wild West for the last couple of years.
Updates on basketball recruiting visit and top target moving to Arizona
Finally, there are a couple of recruiting nuggets for Greg Gard and the men's basketball program. Zavier Zens, a 2026 recruit, was on campus the other day. You can read more about that here. The other big news is that the top player in the state of Wisconsin is moving to Arizona for his senior season, which removes the local edge that the Badgers had with Vaughn Kavala.
