We are officially a week and one day away from our first football gameday of the season. Things are going dark on the football side of things as fall camp is over, and reporters are no longer allowed to attend practice. The Badgers need to install the playbooks without other teams learning them. Which means lots of the news midway through the week exists elsewhere.
Former Badger news: NFL and around college
First, if you didn't know already, Hunter Wohler got injured in the second preseason game, and the Colts put him on IR, which means his season is over before it got started. Brutal news for the promising rookie and former star Badger safety.
In the wake of that IR move, the Colts signed a former Badger to the team in Jake Chaney. He was on the coaching staff for fall camp, and now he's on the Colts roster, trying to make the final roster.
Will Pauling was also named captain at Notre Dame, which is big news for an old friend. And Myles Burkett was named the starter for his new team, Eastern Kentucky. There are also reports that another former Badger, Cole LaCrue, is going to be the starter for Eastern Illinois.
Volleyball Updates
Volleyball is also about to start for the season, and the No. 8-ranked Wisconsin Badgers are gearing up for a big season with a mostly young team. Charlie Fuerbringer, Wisconsin's star setter and a potential Player of the Year candidate, didn't play in the exhibition game against Notre Dame. She's dealing with an injury that hopefully won't keep her out for long.
There's a lot of hype coming in around the transfer from Ohio State, Grace Egan. Her early practices and showcases with Wisconsin have been impressive.
Depth Chart Projection
Finally, we put out an offensive depth chart projection ahead of the season. Check it out and see what you think.
