Week 0 has arrived and the college games on Saturday did not disappoint. While the Badgers don't play until Thursday, there is plenty of Wisconsin news happening. Almost at a rapid pace now while we anticpate the arrival of game one.
This news link dump intentionally avoided NFL updates, as that will come later. The roster cuts are all happening this weekend and up until August 26. Then we will know where the former Badgers stand, though Jack Nelson wasn't cut during the Falcons' first wave and, due to injuries, may end up being a backup at tackle. More on that later.
Michigan went after former Badger Skyler Bell in the portal
The story that I thought was full of spice last week was that Jim Mora told reporters that when Skyler Bell was in the transfer portal, Michigan offered him $500,000 to be a Wolverine. He ultimately turned that down and returned to the Huskies. He transferred to UCONN last offseason and led the Huskies in receiving.
That's a big sum of money, but the Wolverines got to see him in action when he was a Badger and knew they wanted him to come to Ann Arbor.
Nyzier Fourqurean lawsuit updates
Nyzier Fourqurean has applied for an injunction on his lawsuit with the NCAA since his appeal is not scheduled until October. This guarantees he would miss more than half the season. He is claiming that would cause irreparable damage to his draft stock and current ability to generate revenue. The NCAA's delay in the process prevented him from working on an NFL roster spot now, and instead, he was told initially by a court he could play this season. When that was changed, he was stuck.
The judge listened to his case and the rebuttal by the NCAA on August 22. There has yet to be a decision, but it could be coming soon. Luke Fickell submitted a document as part of the process.
Throwback uniform was a hit for the players and mixed reviews for the fans
Not much to say that the title doesn't say. The players went crazy when it was revealed, and clearly love the throwback uniforms. The fans mostly love them, too, but there were some mixed reviews.
