Wisconsin, not even 36 hours removed from its Final Four loss, received even more losses. Five different players announced they would not be returning to Madison next season. Each was an understandable loss, but it's still a hit to the depth of the Badgers. Addy Horner, Maile Chan, Aniya Warren, Trinity Shadd-Ceres, and Tosia Serafinowska have all said their goodbyes.
The biggest loss comes from Addy Horner, who played the most minutes of all four of the announced departures. She was the backup to Charlie Fuerbringer and played throughout the entirety of Fuerbringer's injury. She came to Wisconsin as an outstanding setter and proved it when she played in those games. She could start almost anywhere, but is stuck behind an All-American.
It's a tough loss, but understandable, as is the case for the other three, who also don't have a clear path to minutes.

Like Aniya Warren, who came in as the No. 1 libero in her recruiting class, yet Kristen Simon won the job, leaving Warren to either beat her out next year or find a new opportunity. The same is true for sophomore libero Maile Chan.

Trinity Shadd-Ceres is a frustrating loss as she seemed to take a big jump this year, and Kelly Sheffield even found ways to use her to help generate momentum. Though with all the hitters coming in from the recruiting class, she was probably thinking more freshmen would pass her on the depth chart.
The final one is interesting. Tosia Serafinowska is a middle blocker and was blocked on the depth chart by two seniors. Those two players are now graduated (Carter Booth and Alicia Andrew), meaning Serafinowska would have a chance to earn a starting spot. However, she also posted on her Instagram, "Unforgettable experience. So much gratitude. Thank you, Badger Nation."
Her teammates all responded with things like "I'm gonna miss you," "Go be great," and other messages that signalled she is moving on. She's the only one who didn't say "transfer portal." Could she go play professionally in Europe? Possibly, or maybe she just didn't post on the portal.
It will be interesting to see what Kelly Sheffield does for middle blocker. It seems like it was going to be Natalie Wardlow as the current option on the roster, though it also wouldn't be surprising to see Sheffield grab a player in the portal and use Wardlow as a rotational piece, as he did with Andrew. Right now, Wardlow is the only returning (as of now) middle blocker listed on the roster. Two true freshmen are coming in.
